14. Mark Dayton – $1.6 billion
Mark Dayton serves as the Governor of Minnesota since 2011.
Dayton became famous once he promised to close all tax loopholes for the rich and the corporations. He didn’t forget to mention his family’s interests as the ones that would be affected by such a policy.
Dayton’s plan paid off. When he took office, he inherited a $6.2 billion budget deficit and a 7 percent unemployment rate from his predecessor. Six years later, Minnesota enjoys an economic confidence higher than any other state and now has a budget surplus to spend.
Another landmark achievement was the legalization of same-sex marriage in 2013.
